Vik by Belle Aurora

This is book 2 in the Shot Callers series, and I have been awaiting the story for, literally, years.

YES, YEARS!

Why is there a picture of Lev there?

Well, you see, I read Lev for the first time in 2015. And it's one of my favorite rereads! And I just knew there had to be more... (and there were, sort of - The Friend Zoned series is about characters I met in Lev, too!). Vik & Sasha needed stories! Where were their stories?!!

Well, they just needed time to percolate!

Vik arrived this month & he did not disappoint!

It's a bit darker & frustrated me more than Lev's book, but, well, here's my review:

So, first of all, Lev is one of my top favorite stories. I reread it a lot! Not only for Lev & Mina, but because this family touches my heart in every reread. I wanted to read all their stories - but they didn't exist.

When I saw Vik... I might have had a happy out of body moment of joy... 😉

Vik & Nastasia have a huuuuge communication issue. She thinks his heart is locked away, he thinks she doesn't love him, but he'll do everything he can to be there for her anyway. There are some heartbreaking things going on in this story, and tears were shed!

There's also a lot of humor, some fantastic POVs from others that I loved getting a glimpse from, and the same awesome look into this family that I loved in Lev. Some bits are darker, we get hints at secrets & things to come... All of which made me excited for whichever couple is getting a story next, because I know it's going to be emotional and brilliant!

I also enjoyed seeing the friendship and family dynamic between Nastasia, Anika, Cora, & Mina. The way they support each other, root for each other, love each other. 💜

I just want to give everyone in this family a hug!!!

Learning At 40 by LB Dunbar

I've been a fan of LB Dunbar since before reading anything by her.

We met at a signing, both there as readers.

I was in line to meet Mia Sheridan, and this woman with BEAUTIFUL hair was nearby & I had to compliment her. And then we got to chatting & her insides were just as gorgeous. It's a memory I hold dear & will forever be happy that's how we met!

She's written a lot of books, in different romantic genres, all of them enjoyable! But I really feel like she's hit her stride with the stories about "older" couples. I put older in quotes just because. LOL

Anyway, this month she has a new release in her Lakeside Cottage series, and it was a 5 star read!!

My Review:

Wow. Zack definitely has a lot of learning to do! He has quite the temper. Thankfully, River is there to calm his stormy self!

I love the setting & characters! The twins... I want to hug them so hard! The bits with Zack learning what's really important in being their dad are super sweet.

There's also quite a bit of super steam with Zack & River. Whew!! Might want to have a fan nearby while reading... 😊

Their story is emotional, yet with a great sense of humor in parts, & I especially love how River opens her heart to everyone, teaching us all a little more about the meaning of really flying into love.

Crossing the Line by Jessica Prince

Come one, come all, to enjoy the new town created for this series!

Happy Release Day!!

My Review:

Trent & Cheyanne (aka Sawyer) aren't supposed to get together. She's in hiding. He's just supposed to locate her for Charlotte. But then he catches feelings... ; )

I loved Charlotte & Dalton's story, and the friendship Trent has with both of them. So for him to get his HEA with Charlotte's twin is 100% perfect in my eyes! That whole part of the story is magic!

This whole story is sweet with a hint of suspense, and there are lots of LOL moments especially involving the family she's created in this tiny little town in Oregon. I love the interactions between Cheyanne & her besties. And OMH Trent & Sam's shenanigans will definitely make you LOL!!

Highly enjoyed this story & I'm so happy this author has created another small town for us to fall in love with. I'm looking forward to the next HEA!!

Chasing Serenity by Kristen Ashley

First of all, I was super stoked to get to read this one early!

It is a fun read, but did also bring me to tears, as you'll see from my review. I'm also very excited for what's next in this series. So many FEELS!

My Review:

First of all, the last few pages of this story brought me to tears. Not the first time I cried at some beautiful piece of this story, but these tears were somewhat different. KA did something I hadn't thought possible after introducing Corey Szabo in After the Fall. And all I'll say is, it's beautiful.

Ok! So! Judge & Chloe! Oh goodness, I adore them! Chloe is dramatic, but so full of love. Judge is laid back - tho not in the bedroom, WHEW, FIRE!! - and even when they're being snippy to each other, they are FUN. Sweet, hot, adorable... Swoon.

This story, this series, is not just about the main couple. It's about family - blood or not - and how each person fits together to make a spectacular ensemble. I am already looking forward to the next installment!!

Are you a KA fan?

I have been for a while, ever since I saw Law Man at Target many moons ago, recognized the author's name as someone I was seeing all over FB, and fell in love with Detective Mitch Lawson. I DEVOURED that series ...

Mmm.

Anywhoodle - if you're going to dive in w/ this series, don't forget to read After the Climb first.

It'll give you insight into this family & you'll fall even more in love!

Let me know!

Jerk It by Lani Lynn Vale

It's time for another LLV release day!!

This one is a tearjerker, and was super emotional, so grab the tissues!

My Review:

This story made me cry. Snotty cry. So emotional! This family burrowed into my heart big time!

There is definitely less CrossFit focus than the last book in the series, which helped me appreciate that part of the story differently.

Normally I would have all sorts of things to say in a LLV review, but everything is spoilery! 😂

So, I will just say I loved Mavis & Murphy's story & even when I was an emotional mess, it was a great read!!

😀😍😍😀

Written In Love Letters by Zoey Drake

Happy New Release to Zoey Drake!

First of all, the cover is delicious!

And this story has all kinds of things going on.

Also, I highly recommend reading the first book in the series, Written in the Sand. You really can read them in either order, but just read them!! ; )

My Review:

Communication.

For a couple who pours their hearts out in love letters, Faith & Remington kinda suck at communication. I struggled a bit because of that. Just when it's looking like they're making headway...

I did love their meeting & the letters - as I said, they pour their hearts out in their letters, and they're beautiful! Rem & Faith love each other SO MUCH, they just struggle with trusting each other. And as they grapple with trusting each other, their story is a bit more angsty than I like.

Everything is well written, tho! It's a highly emotional second-chance story, with some lovely humor interspersed. Nova is a riot! And we get to see more of Reagan's zaniness, though she wasn't as big a player in this story as she was in Beau's. I love the supporting characters & the way they are used in the story! We also get to see Beau & Cassidy Mae peripherally throughout & more at the end, which I loved!

The animals are fun - I don't want to spoil anything, but there are some great animal scenes to make us smile!

So, you if you haven't read Written in the Sand yet, grab that one, too, and dive in to the Moonshine Springs world. Grab some tissues & a drink, and enjoy!!
