I loved the first book, The Red Zone, as well.

Both are 10+++ star reads & I highly recommend them!

My Review:

Oh, I just love Ollie so much!!! His heart melted me right along w/ Hazel. I also love her nickname for him. *heart eyes* 

I'm normally not a fan of the back & forth in time story telling, but the way this (and The Red Zone) is written, it flows really well & doesn't go on that way through the whole story (just the beginning for this one), so I actually enjoyed how it was done. We get to see the beginnings of this friendship & love, and the solid foundation. Hazel has some things to work through, for sure! 

Love the banter, the emotion, the family. It's slow burn w/o feeling slow. It's swoony & a really fun read! : )

I love the pacing to this story - it's a fake marriage that feels real. It's friends to lovers with a twist. It's sweet and STEAMY and heartache and healing and definitely beautiful! And it's not JUST about Poppy & Jase - we get to catch up w/ Farah & Cannon, & Ben... We get to see some of our favorite characters unite to solve a mystery. We get a glimpse into Shane & Jensen & I'm looking forward to seeing their story play out. This installment of the series gets two HUGE thumbs up!! : )

I admit, the gorgeous cover sucked me in, too!  ;) 

My Review: 

OMH!  First of all, this is book 3 in a series of connected stand alone stories.  I haven't read the first two, but follow the author on IG & from the moment I saw this cover & read the blurb, I HAD to read this story.  I'm not a fan of the enemies to lovers trope, in general, because I really can't get into characters being cruel to one another and then *poof* they're in love.  With this story, although there is quite a fair amount of angst, and Maggie & Desmond do enjoy antagonizing one another, neither crosses the line into being mean, which I appreciate.

Maggie & Desmond both pulled me in from the minute they appeared on the page.  I loved Maggie's confidence & my heart broke for her the more I learned about the battles she was facing.  Same with Desmond.  I cheered for his successes & wanted to hug him at his internal feelings of needing to be "more."  

Throughout their story, they have witty banter and and unexpected emerging respect for one another as they get to know each other & toss away their pre-conceived ideas.  I love the progression of their relationship, and of their relationships with others in the story!!  

For fans of the series, scenes with Chloe & Gavin, and Monica & Zach will give just the right amount of "where are they now" I think.  And for anyone picking this story up as I did, there's just enough that you feel like you know them w/o being "lost" to their stories.  


There's also just the right amount of steam - the story's focus is on Maggie & Desmond's relationship, but there are definitely some "burn the pages" scenes in there as well!!  All in all, this beautiful, heartfelt story will give you some tears & some laughs, and leave you with an overall feeling of a *happy sigh* - at least, it did for me!!  : )  

Also, this is the final book in a series of stand alone stories, and they're all available in Kindle Unlimited if you'd like to check them out, too.

The Other Guy by Jennifer Van Wyk

I have loved everything by this author since I stumbled across her on Facebook or Amazon or wherever.  I'm never quite sure where I discover most of my authors, but I'm always SO thankful!  

My Review:

Ahhhh! What a refreshing & FANTASTIC read! If you're a fan of Jennifer's writing, you'll recognize our hero of this tale. We met Jack in A Better Place when his mom took a risk to save their lives, and met the man who would change them both for the better. ; ) You'll also get to visit w/ some awesome characters from previous books who enhance Jack's story & make you want to dive into those stories, too (for the first time or again)!

I wasn't QUITE sure where Jack's story was going. Who would be his lady love? Was this going to be a story I could fall in love with? The answer is a resounding YES! I absolutely fell in love with this couple - their personalities & quirks & hearts & best of all, their communication & BANTER! There also might be a really great pupper... :D And some steamy goodness, as well!

This was a highly enjoyable read & is on my favorites list no question! : )

Unexpected Odds, the finale of this series, has arrived!

I love this series so much!  

From the beginning, in Unexpected Reality, this group of guys stole my heart.  They aren't just friends, business partners, but also brothers in heart.  And the way they interact with each other made me root for each of them to get their own HEA.  : ) 

My Review:

What a delightful story to end this series. This has been one of my FAVORITE series - and unexpected. *grin* I didn't know there was going to be a series when I read Unexpected Reality. I loved that one so much that when the author offered a t-shirt to purchase, I had to have it (and it's comfy!!)! : ) 

To get each of these guys' stories has been a treat, and to save Kent's story for last was genius. He & Delaney have such wonderful chemistry! I love the way they interact with each other & work through the unexpected things life has thrown their way. It's also great to get to catch up w/ all the guys & their wives & kids - Kaylee Ryan writes some ADORABLE kid interactions, y'all!! 

I loved this story from start to finish - this SERIES from start to finish - and it's definitely on my recommend, re-read, and favorite shelves! : )
