My Review: 

Five cheers (and stars) for Owen & Charlie!! Their second chance is perfectly paced, full of fun banter and swoony goodness, and was a quick, page turning read for me! I absolutely fell in love w/ Owen's sense of humor in Logan & Danielle's story, but wasn't a fan of some of his other personality traits. Those are explained & not an issue in his own story, which made me happy. Heh.

I love the way both Owen & Charlie are w/ their nieces & nephews, and just the whole family dynamic I fell in love with in Cheap Trick as well. This was just an entertaining, low angst, fun read!! : )

New Release - Beautifully Broken Life by Catherine Cowles

I adore this book!!!  Both this one & book 1 are 10+++ star reads.  The writing & story telling (and story BUILDING) are just so amazing!  I highly recommend picking this - and book 1 if you haven't read it yet - up!  

My Review: 

Liam & Tess's story is WONDERFUL! Emotional but fun, and we get to see more of Walker & Taylor, from the first book. And hints of the future... : ) 

I loved how their relationship grows throughout the story. Liam pushes Tess just the right amount to get her out of her fortress w/o making her want to run. He helps her regain her confidence and power, and together they heal each other from the hurts of their pasts.

Beautiful writing, a dash of steam, great story, perfect pacing, and just the right amount of Trouble!

Cover Reveal - One Short Summer by Jasmin Miller

Okay.  

Do you remember me gushing about a new author & story called Baking With A Rockstar?  I loved that story!!  It's fun & fairly low angst & about a single mom & the rockstar who falls in love w/ her and her kiddo.  And maybe a matchmaking grandma is involved?  ; )  

Anyway, One Short Summer is the story of ... Well, just check it out & see!  I think it looks like fun & I'm really looking forward to reading it!

This cover is so beautiful & the colors actually tie in really well w/ the story, which I thought was neat. 

My Review:

This was a really tough story for me. I LOVED Braelyn. I get her grief & her thoughts & her turtle-ing. Her heart is SO BIG and she has so much love to give and she's working toward healing from her heartache. She has panic attacks that I could relate to. 

And Ollie!! He stole the show, really. That little dude's personality is much bigger than his five years would warrant. I can see him being a swoony hero when he grows up! 

But then we have Brance. *sigh* I wanted to love him. He's Ollie's father! He has to have some redeeming qualities. But he was just so ... MEAN. I can't handle mean. He has his reasons & I understood them & was warming up to him, even. But then he did something so inconsiderate (a small thing, in the grand scheme of things, really, and most ppl probably wouldn't think it was that big of a thing, honestly. It just hit me super hard for personal reasons)... 

I just did not enjoy him as much as I wanted to. He does redeem himself in the end, and I did eventually forgive him, mostly. *laugh* 

And aside from that, the story is written so ... lyrically. It's really a beautiful story and so well written (this author is and always will be a favorite because I am in love w/ her writing style)! Oh! AND! The best friends (Sadie & Jordan) are hilarious & fun & I enjoyed them a lot. : )

Harry Potter Fan Fic

As you know, I read almost exclusively romance.  

I have favorites in other genres (Harry Potter by JK Rowling, Lightning by Dean Koontz, Born A Crime by Trevor Noah, Christine by Stephen King - for example) but 99.9% of what I read now is romance.

I also don't normally read fan fiction.  Of anything.  When I was younger, I read a LOT of it based on my favorite TV shows from the 70's/80's (Remington Steele & Scarecrow & Mrs King were two of my favorites to read).  But in most circumstances, I don't like to read "re-imagined" stories.  Especially if there's a romance, because I fall in love w/ the characters & who THEY fall in love with.  

In other words, don't mess with my Happily Ever After.  

BUT! 

I saw a snippet of this Harry Potter fan fic on Instagram and I was hoooooked.  Like, right away I hoped there was more, and then found out the person had a link to it in their profile.  

And this is where I have spent my weekend.

I have ARC's to read.

I haven't read HP in ages.

I haven't even seen the movies in ages bc I got rid of my TV.

But the characters and story will always be in my heart.  

And, now I have a new, and separate love.
